The Connecticut Environmental Forum (CEF) is an organization which provides a forum for environmental professionals to share and exchange information and experiences on environmental matters and to learn about the latest issues regarding environmental regulations. Members of the forum meet monthly to discuss upcoming changes in laws and regulations and the impacts on our community. Expert presentations and panel discussions allow all members to gather information and stay current with environmental compliance issues.

MEETING INFORMATION AND SCHEDULE

CEF typically meets the first Wednesday of every month (see below for specific dates and location) from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. Monthly meetings always include: updates on environmental legislative and regulatory proposals happening in Connecticut as well as in Washington, D.C.; recent environmental legal decisions; and other relevant environmental initiatives. In addition, a different guest speaker each month provides an update and review of a new environmental rule, law, or industry practice.

Meeting Dates (usually the first Wednesday of each month except for July and August)
All meetings will be held at the Keeney Memorial Cultual Center (unless otherwise noted below). For directions,

CT’s Proposed GP for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Industrial Activities
Come join us to hear Chris Stone of DEP present the current proposed changes to the General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Industrial Activities. While the final draft of this General Permit is not complete, DEP is using a modified version of the federal EPA’s Multi-Sector General Permit as a model for Connecticut. This federal approach would completely change the requirements of the state’s General Permit and could impact the regulated community’s daily operations.

DEP’s Bureau of Natural Resources: Forestry Division Update (Event Reprise)
Due to stormy weather in January, we had to cancel this meeting. Let’s try again! We typically cover permitting programs affecting business and industry. But this time, learn what other parts of DEP are doing for the environment. Please join us to hear Christopher Martin, Director/State Forester of the CTDEP Natural Resources Forestry Division, provide background on Connecticut’s Forest resources, the functions and responsibilities of the Division of Forestry, the Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies report on State Forest sustainability, and touch on some anticipated changes in the new 2008 Farm Bill.
